Suddenly the room was gone. I looked behind me but the looking glass had vanished and in its place stood a shattered mirror. My portal was quite obviously gone, and the thought that I would not be returning sent a shiver down my spine. Before me was a strange, feral world. Stars, hearts, and other symbols hung from the trees on black string, like remnants of broken dreams and forgotten hopes. Various toys were scattered about the clearing, aged and dirty. These were lost innocence and savagely destroyed childhoods. Clocks were everywhere, but they were all broken and cracked. Of course, time had no value here. The hands on the clockwork here had not budged for centuries.
A figure shifted in the distance. A large black fox-like creature with effervescent green eyes and a wide, toothy grin. It was only then that I was aware of the glittering eyes peering out at me from the shelter of the trees. They looked upon me not with malice, but an unwavering curiosity. The fox had bounded before me in seconds, moving more like a spirit than a being. A strange, pink arrow tattoo dyed the fur on one of its forepaws, and as he opened his mouth to speak I was astonished by a vibrant ice blue mouth. "Will you come and join the dance?"
I worked so hard on this! I used a wide variety of media. Good Lord, I have a migraine from the sharpies. This is as a gift for a friend who has a birthday coming up on the 27th. She requested something.. psychedelic, so I did my best. She's pretty much a hippie, so I worked some peace signs into the tree.
I hope you get a twisted, Alice in Wonderland feel from this!
